Holiday Photo's

I am a bit miffed.  Merril and I like to walk and take our cameras.  We both take photos.  She gives me her card and I download her pictures onto my computer.  I do the same with mine.  I then delete photo’s and keep the ones I want.  Using Movie Maker, I do a little photo story of our holiday.  I then add music before hoisting it on unsuspecting viewers on Face book.  I mean, I then upload it for the viewing pleasure of others.
The thing is, she has taken the best photo so far.  It really does not matter to me except that it does.  Still it was a conspiracy.  I never stood a chance.  It was not my fault.  The sky was just there doing nothing but being blue.  The ground chose that time to lay low.  As for the trees, I knew they were up to something.  So she got the best shot.  I am not one to spit the dummy though.  Winning is only everything.
When taking photo’s I try to dress for the part.  I know I cannot fool all the people all the time, but I will settle for some of the people some of the time.  I think that happened yesterday.  I saw a pool of water reflecting trees.  I thought it was a good shot.  When I first framed the pool in my camera, the trees could hardly be seen.  Pointless really.  Anyone seeing it would possibly think pools of water were my thing and each to his own.  I decided if I went further back and higher still, that would work.  The picture looked ok, so I took it.
I turned to leave, and at that point someone at a distance called out something to me.  I did not catch what they said, but I reckon he though I knew what I was doing.  I really should have gotten his autograph.  At the very least I should have noted the date, time and place, and what I was doing at the time.
I try to avoid some mistakes.  I have never left the cap on.  Still if someone saw it I could pass it off as a really dark night shot in a confined space.  The good thing would be that no matter which way the picture was held, it would always be right.  I have, but please don’t pass it on, forgotten to turn the camera on.  That is really bad when a shot that needs to happen now happens.  There are few things worse then getting it framed right and not being able to click.  That chance will never happen again, and I blew it.
If opportunity arises I now take it.  I saw a possum fighting a bird in a tree.  I did nothing as I thought it must happen all the time here.  Never seen it again.  I am not bitter and twisted though.  Lying on a couch staring at the ceiling and telling someone about it in a chair nearby has helped heaps.
I have found I am best off wearing a cap backwards for taking pictures.  My neck does not get burned, but spend too long in the sun and my face suffers.  I tried my outdoor hat but found that in low light situations the flash would attempt to open but only open half-way and collide with my hat brim.  It would not take a shot until the hat was removed.
So much is a learning curve.  Some learning curves I would like to do without thank you very much.
