Holiday

I must have become a real city person.  The sound I heard I thought was an air conditioner, and it turns out it was the sea.
Merril and I are at Couran Cove.  We are here for a week.  Our visit is thanks to John and Kathleen who make their place available to us. The fact we love it here could be gauged from the fact this is our fourth visit.
There are a number of things we like about the place.
It is a great place to get away.  The only way here is by boat.  For us in Burpengary it involves an extensive drive and then a boat trip.  Once on the island we need to walk to the home.  Fortunately, nothing is too far from anything, but it is all far enough to give a good distance between things.
It is a great place for photography.  There is a lot of bush land, buildings, the wild sea side, and the calm sea side.  When Merril and I go photographing, we often pick a theme i.e. tree bark, or birds, and we decide who has the best picture of whatever our theme is.  What we photograph though, is not limited to the theme stuff, but it gives us a focus.  For this visit, I have had to work out what the emphasis will be.  I have lots of pictures of birds, animals, trees, buildings, shells, and sea side.  I will still take them, but have decided this trip I will emphasise the sporting venues.  There is exercise equipment, a tennis court, mini golf, table tennis, a swimming pool and other things here.  Hopefully it will make an interesting subject.
It is good that the only way around the island for most guests is by bike.  There are a few buggies here that are driven by home owners and staff, but the majority of the transport is by bike.  The only cars on the island are driven by maintenance people.  We use bikes and walk to get around.
We come here for a holiday.  It is great we can do nothing, or do heaps.  There is no compulsion.  No deadline that has to be met.  They say a change is as good as a holiday, well our holiday is a change.  We still do some of the stuff we would do at home.  Merril has just been for a run.  Both of us spend time on our computers.  Here though, the television takes more of a back seat, and bed time is more about when darkness falls than artificial light.
Personally, I could not live here permanently as it is too far from emergency needs.    It is good to come to, to recharge the batteries and recuperate. I mean, staring meaningfully into the middle distance can be exhausting.   It is a great place to get away and veg.  I reckon we are pretty good at it.  It is one of our strengths.
