Heritage

Where will it all end?  Actually I think I have a fair idea, but that is a view that I only share with about a Krillion other people.
I really can’t blame some Muslims for not liking us.  We call ourselves a Christian nation, but it seems we are totally ashamed of our heritage.  One only needs look at all the steps being taken to wipe our heritage from our history.
In Australia it seems ANZAC day has taken on a spiritual significance.  I am as thankful as anyone for what was done, but tv coverage seems to extol our war hero’s as more than mere mortals.  In these days our hero’s have become idols.  Hence American Idol.
I once heard a comedian being a teacher and telling all the students about evolution and how they came from monkeys (some can trace their family tree back to when their ancestors lived in it).  He then said he had run out of time as it was time for their self-esteem lesson.
Turkey was kept out of the EU because it was not considered a Christian nation.  It amazes me how Europe was the birth place of so many good things yet so much of it is dead to its Christian heritage.  To find outbreaks of Christianity one needs to look at Africa and Asia these day.
Outbreaks generally are not reported in the national press though. The Christian world view has it that Christians are engaged in a battle with “the price of the power of the air.”  It seems no wonder the positives rarely make the air waves.  It is amazing, that as an observer, I see so much that reinforces.
That is not to say Europeans are not spiritual.  It seems they are so, and being humans, will always be.  Material things seem to have been one of our gods and because that has not been enough we are including “super heroes.”  I love the Marvel and DC movies as much as anyone, but I cannot help but think our taking to them has as much to do with our desire to be more than what we are, as quality.
Of course many bad things have been done under the guise of Christianity which must be apologised for.  It is though, one of those things I believe will never end, and Christians will never be seen to have done enough.
It seems totally yesterday today to believe in anything but oneself – as though a created being can save oneself.  We just need to try harder.  There seems to be a denial of one set of values for another.  We need to write new laws to cover it and it seems it is never ending.
Anyway that is me.  I like to “eat the worms and spit out the germs.”
