Head Spins

4/5/2019

Click hereWell that was different.  This morning for the first time ever I had head spins when I got up.  The first time was at about three am.  I sat on the side of the bed until they passed, and when I looked at the clock I decided it was too early to get up.  At around four thirty I did the same.  After deciding I could walk without going sideways, I thought four thirty was an ok time to get up.
Sure, I had a big day yesterday.  In the morning I did a fence and in the evening I played three sets of table tennis.  I have had days like that, and bigger before, with no subsequent head spins.
It is amazing to me how things take on more significance.  I used to get head spins because of the build-up of wax effecting my inner ear.  The last place I went to said I needed to buy something to soften the wax, so it would come out.  Not all places are like that.  Some places just get it out.  That is my sort of place.  My local clinic just does it, so I will go there.  I want to rule that in or out.
Our neighbour across the road works for SEQEB.  He brought the truck home every day.  I had not seen the truck lately and wondered why.  Merril talked to him yesterday.  A post fell on his head.  If he had not been wearing a helmet he would have been gone.
A table tennis friend fell head first from a height.  If he had reached the ground, he says he would have been gone.
These head spins bring into focus big time my mortality.  I have felt ready for a long time, but it seems now it has been so abstract.  I don’t know why, as it happens to everyone.  In the past, it seemed it always happened to someone else and not me.  Now I am forced to admit I can be the someone else really.
Still I gotta be pleased how I function.  There are those so much worse off.  That does not change the fact that one day my number will be up.  I can be happy to have gone this long.  For some it happens really early.  My thinking is, it does not matter when it happens, as long as a person is as ready as they can be when it does.
There is a school of thinking that says we can never be sure we are ready.  I feel I understand that.  It has caused me to look and see if there has been anyone trustworthy who has been there before.  It is that person I choose to follow, and live as they say.
I used to talk with someone on Facebook.  They posted a lot of interesting stuff and I really enjoyed our relationship both online and in person.  Then they were gone.  Suddenly.  Where there had been posts, and interaction, there was silence.  It shocked me, and made me realize how fragile our existence really is.
Still, all this to me is a foundation only.  There is life to be lived and by golly I will live it.   Besides, we are going out both this morning and tonight.  This morning is shopping.  Not really looking forward to that.  Tonight is a meal with friends.  I am looking forward to that.
