Well I spent yesterday doing as I intended.  Not that I necessarily felt like it when it came to do it.  Going back to bed seemed attractive.  Yet there was a task I wanted to do, and I knew it was not going to happen by itself.  So I decided the best thing to do was to make a start and see what happened then.
What I did (and so often do) find is that making a start is the hardest part.  Once I do that, I tend to be into it.  That is what happened.
The first thing was to empty out the contents of the shed completely, and to give it a clean and put things back the way I wanted them.  I have regarded it as the “garden” shed and it seems other creatures regarded it the same.  At one point I needed a shovel to deal with a large packet that had been opened by a creature and the contents spread big time.  I had stored a number of packets of things.
I also had a couple of large containers in there to house tools.  Sometimes tools were difficult to get out or store, and I had no idea what was in the bottom of the containers.  It turned out nothing - but that will no longer be a potential problem as I removed them.
The biggest thing I had to deal with was a set of drawers that were no longer functional.  The bottom of one of them had given way and another was completely unusable.
I set up a table to sort through what the drawers contained.  I had another set of empty drawers I could and did use to return stuff - most of which I put together in packets.  In so much it is my aim to put like with like.  I did that and made discoveries.
It is weird, but if I had been asked a year ago I would have insisted on keeping much.  Now though is different.  I see no reason to keep a lot of stuff we will never use and which has no other value.  In many ways I am becoming a minimalist.  It feels good but dealing with over 100 years of accumulated stuff (Merril and I) takes time.
It matters somehow.
