Hate

Hate takes many forms – love takes one.  Nice light contemplation first thing in the morning.  World wars, crimes against humanity, causes with an aim of annihilation.
I was considering that stuff because it seems like an endless cycle.  It seems everyone is convinced of the justness of their cause, and many will do whatever it takes to achieve their ends.  If people get in the way, their destruction is an unfortunate consequence.
I heard someone put it something like, “they say their agenda is in the National Interest but when the smoke clears their agenda is put above the National interest.”
I am reading a New Your Times best-selling book at the moment called “Son of Ha  as.”  What I did not realize when I first took it up, was the guy that wrote it is the son of one of the seven founders of Ha as.  He gives insight into the inner workings of the organization.
He is estranged from his dad these days, but it is ideology that divides and not love.  The impression given is that his dad was not a party to the indiscriminate killing of innocents, but he was a good man who did nothing.
That book plus a song I heard this morning, which was played on a random playlist, got me thinking along these lines.  To me it is not about who is right and who is wrong but about motives.
Hate would probably be to stronger word for the way many feel.  Indifference would cover many and genuine concern would cover others.  But for those in power and agenda setters hate is often the motivating factor.  It may be disguised as some other seemingly good cause but hate produces hate.
The Middle East problem seems to be the most difficult to solve as evidenced by the numerous attempts that have been made to do so.  But I feel I do not need to look so far afield to see evidence of hate.
There are so many causes that can be adhered to.  In just about every case there is something to be agreed with.  Something that highlights the rightness of something for everyone.
Yet I do not declare allegiance to any party.  Apart from the fact that doing so unnecessarily alienates, so often I have to choose between the best worst.  Just about every party has platforms I agree with, but all have others I do not agree with.
But so often the end justifies the means.  People are hurt and suffer needlessly to achieve an aim.  The thing that gets me is mostly there is opposition to a cause.  Generally they eventually gain the ascendency.  Their methods are the same.  It is one of the reasons my allegiance is to God who is above all that.  He does not take sides, He takes over.
I admired the motive in the “National Reconciliation” in South Africa.  I felt a lot of needless bloodshed was avoided.  Yet that sentiment has been powerless to avoid unnecessary bloodshed down the track.  Hate may be legislated against, but it cannot change a heart.
Anyone can hate.  Unfortunately, it is like the extreme end of the default position.  Loving is harder in many cases, and I know I need help to do it.  But for me, that is a small price to pay.
