Great Ocean Road

It is a total fallacy.  I have been watching, and it just does not seem to be true.  Daylight saving does not fade the curtains.  They have it here in Melbourne.  The good thing for me is, it may be 3.45 am but daylight saving means it is 4.45am and I am late!  Late for what I don’t know, but whatever it is, I am late for it.
I must admit I was a bit of a skeptic (it defaulted to sceptic.  I have never been a bit of a sceptic - that I know of anyway.)  The Great Ocean Road was on Merril’s bucket list.  I wanted to see it, but in some ways, I was along for the ride.  I am a convert now for sure.  The 12 apostles were spectacular.   Just as well they were, or hordes of us would have been sold a lie.  There were people everywhere.  Call me paranoid if you like, but I couldn’t help having the feeling I was being followed.
Of course, the weather had to change for our visit.  For weeks it has been calm and lake like.  The day we were there it was obvious why around there is called the ship wreck coast.  It was blowing a gale.  It was so easy to end up somewhere unintended, as the wind transported folk from one place to another.  It did make taking photo’s harder, unless one found a person and surreptitiously took a shot from behind them.  Couldn’t do that for the best shots though.
And rain.  They hadn’t seen any for ages and then we arrived.  The tour guide said one place we visited had had it all night.  Nice for them, and the rain was needed.  I am really trying to be magnanimous here.  I want them to have rain too.  Just not when we are there.  The good thing about the rain though, was it was only brief showers.  Just enough to soak a person and then go away.  I can’t say “leaving us high and dry.”  High and wet is more like it.  The wind and rain really did make for good shots.
After the Great Coast Road we went to the Grampians.  I am such a sucker for punishment.  I really do not like heights.  And what was so spectacular about the Grampians.  Taking photo’s from heights.
Before heading up to the Grampians, we stayed in a motel.  We arrived there after dark so we had no idea what was around us.  I was outside and it was like eyes were staring back at me.  A car light revealed it was a Telstra box.
We thought we hearing cattle.  Then I remembered we were in the country.    We would have heard snoring.  That is the way country folk snore.  More like a cow mooing.  We city folk sound more like a car horn.  The next morning showed there was a hill behind us.
In the Grampians we visited one viewing point where I could not go out the end.  Merril did not have the same problem as me, so she took the photo’s.  I saw the views from what I considered a safe distance.  One lady on that platform said it had taken 15 minutes to get a guy to the point he was at.  He was like three meters onto the platform.
Having said that, it was totally worth it.  It was great, and I am so glad to have done it.
