Good times and bad

​Good times and bad
It is totally weird I know, but it is true.  I have known it for a while.  I get off on other people doing what is really the right thing for them as far as employment, hobbies and other activities go.
There are few things sadder to me than someone staying in a dead-end job they do not like, because of family commitments, and maybe being afraid to step out.
Real wisdom is needed, and the timing needs to be right, but if it can happen, the happier or more content a person is, the more likely they are to cause happiness and contentment in those around them.  I know that if I am like a bear with a sore head, I am less nice to be around.  Ok sometimes I may have a sore head for health reasons, but that is different to having a sore head because I am discontent with life.
It seems so easy to maintain the status quo because it is safe.  Things are familiar.  But at best that is boring, and at worst it is maintaining misery.  A sea change or a tree change may be seen as the answer, but too often the only thing that changes is the scenery.
Leaving my comfort zone has never been easy, but whenever the timing was right it has always produced greater contentment.  I don’t know what the implications will be for me of even the most basic activity like going shopping.  The same goes for the big things.  But sometimes it is right.
I have been in the position, and seen people leave things for the wrong reasons.  Often advice to the contrary is not sought, and a decision is made based solely on how a person feels.  But there is no doubt in my mind feelings are fickle.  If decisions I make were made solely on them, I would flitter from one thing to another.
I have found life can be hard.  It is not always chocolate and ice cream.  Sometimes it is a main dish with vege’s.  But a main dish and vege’s do more good than chocolate and ice cream.  Thankfully there is a place for chocolate and ice cream, but it is not healthy to try and live on that.
A decision that is right when it is made, does not automatically become wrong because times are tough.  Sometimes it is just a sticking with it.  A seeing it though.  Always there is light at the end of the tunnel, and rarely is it a train coming from the other direction.
That is easy to say from a place of contentment.  But I have known good times and bad.  But thankfully even in the bad times, good times are on the way.
