Going Fast and Going Far

I have given up trying to fight this thing.  Weil I would never say that was what I was doing but I have learnt enough to know that I should not resist but let it take its course.  One day I feel great and the next day terrible.  Yesterday I had thought I will be able to do all this stuff in the yard.  I woke up feeling terrible and did another covid test.  It registered quick smart that I still had it. 
So I have cleared all commitments till after this coming weekend.  In the normal course of events it should have gone by then.
One thing though is that I am getting to watch a bit of tv.  It is a case of rest and watch tv.
There was some sort of documentary I was watching that I came in on late.  It was a story on an African American runner.  They were world class and an Olympian.  She said her dad had an African saying that “if you want to go fast, go alone, and if you want to go far, go together.”
I must admit that has stuck with me - as I see my life more as a marathon than a sprint.  Certainly, compared to the age of the earth my life is quick but as a living experience a lifetime seems like well a lifetime.
I admit I am sus of self-made individuals.  I know that any movement needs individual leaders but those that go it alone tend to end up alone.  Maybe it is a generalization but it happens often enough to be a relevant statistic.
I was amazed how when they did a test of the pulling power of oxen it was found that two did not represent double but more than double.  For example (and I have forgotten the figures) if one ox could pull 10 ton, 2 ox did not pull 20 tons but 30.  They found the impact was exponential.
I reckon it is the same for people.  There is a natural tendency within the human race to get together.  In some circles I think they call it herd mentality.  When the video player was invented, there was a prediction that getting together would die as people watched videos alone.  Low and behold it was that way for a short while, but people emerged and got together.
To me to go far I need others around me.  Alone I am easy pickings.  Together we are an army.  When I fall alone, I am dead meat.  With others around me they look out for me, and we protect and encourage each other.
I want to go fast when I need to, but it is in the context of going far.  For that I want others around me.
