Go with the flow

There are those who take advantage of the breakdown of society.  Those that seem to almost encourage it.  It looks to me like we live on a knifes edge.  It is interesting to me that whenever law and order breaks down people run amok.  It does not seem to matter what society or people group it is, there are those that will take advantage of chaos to take what is not earned and destroy what is not theirs.
There are those that seem to desire only their own way and will go to any lengths to get it. Including doing hurtful things for what may be the majority of others.  And then it looks to me like there are others who ask, “what just happened here.”  Those who do not desire to bring down by any means - but by lawful means.
More and more it is looking like that is a powerless option. and people are being forced to make a choice.  It seems to me it is easy to make choices when things are quiet and decisions are considered and respected.  That to me is the way it has been in the west.
I am of the opinion that the most dangerous time for humanity is when all appears to be going smoothly and we are at ease.  I am thankful for it, and it is the way I want it, but I do not pretend it is not the time I am most open to accepting what destroys the foundation on which I stand.
Our society is becoming more and more polarized and less and less tolerant.  Those that speak peace and acceptance of another’s view are being overwhelmed.  That to me is obvious in the war we see now.  There have been many wars but none it seems has been more front and centre to the west.
I may speak peace and want to avoid violent confrontation, but it seems not all feel the same way.  There are those determined to get their own way by whatever means.  There comes a time when I need to choose who I will serve. When options are starker.  Destruction or life.  When soothing words are not enough.  When I have a choice of which flow I will go with.
