Glass Houses

I know I have mentioned it before, but I know it stood out big time to me.  I know that a number of simple life experiences have stood out to me.  I honestly think there is a lot to be learned in the every day, if I have a heart to learn.
I thought the heart was in the middle of the chest.  I have since learned it is to the left-hand side.  I told my dad the heart was in the middle, and he went to his grave thinking that.
In this instance the misconception was not life threatening, but I have been asking myself something.  Does one misconception disqualify everything I say?  There is a reason I find this important.
My conclusion is it really depends on the individual.  By that I mean I really think it depends on the person’s motivations.  In my experience there seems to be those who get it wrong often, but they are wanting big time to get it right.  I must confess I will always get along such a person and try to work things out together.
I am sorry to say there are others and I know one who build their life on a lie.
To me it is about foundations.  If the foundations are strong then any work required is cosmetic.  As I have been told about a home I had.  The bones are strong.  But if the foundations are weak, it matters not how much cosmetic work is done the home will crumble in times of trouble.
That is not to say that because the foundational thinking is wrong everything said is wrong.  On the contrary and this is the danger to me.  So much said down the track is good stuff.  But I only know that in passing.  I personally avoid someone who will not admit something foundational is wrong.  I do not want to associate with that person because I do not want to embrace or be seen to embrace something that is known to miss the mark.
(as my thinking is always I will love the person even if what is held to I do not love.  Loving to me does not mean a willingness to associate.  If it did it would mean I would be found in the lair of thieves and robbers rather than simply treating them with respect when our paths cross.)
From what I have seen I can only think the person is in love with themselves or their following.  They stubbornly refuse to accept the word of advice from others who have seen and avoided a trap.
I do not set myself up.  I can easily fall when I think I stand.  I honestly think it is one of the reasons we need each other.  I get it wrong and so do others.  Together we can get it right if there is a collective will to listen and do so.
