Give and Take

It is my birthday.  Well by the time you read this it will be that yesterday was my birthday.  I’ve checked and my teeth are no longer though I know I am getting long in the tooth.  In fact, at 64 it feels like a song is appropriate.
I must admit something weird is going on.  It has never happened before.  I talk about it for no other reason than it is happening.
Birthdays traditionally are a time to get stuff.  I like that a lot.  I would be happy to get stuff until the cows come home and because I live in the city, I never see that, so it is likely to go on a long time.  I guess what I am saying is it is not too late.  You know where I live.
I must confess though that this morning I am feeling like never before that my birthday is about giving rather than receiving.  I feel like today more than any other is a chance to give rather than get.
I know I have started well.  I fed the birds.  We feed two types of birds.  Both lots are fly in fly out birds.  One type is carnivore, and the other is herbivore.  I added something to the mix for the carnivores.  Like it is their birthday.  I just fed the herbivores.  Just getting a feed is like it is their birthday.
For me this is like a revolutionary concept.  Both matter for sure, but this is like a totally new thing.  I am actually finding it a bit exciting.  Having a birthday is exciting enough already.  I must admit though I have always found it a bit weird to celebrate getting older. Maybe when I was a kid and heading into my prime.  But since then it has been a waving it good bye as it disappears further and further into the distance.  But any excuse for a celebration I reckon.  Especially when I get stuff.
I can see two things I can do at home here.  One will take about an hour while I will give two hours to the other.  I reckon I will need to forgo some tv time though because a sleep a given.  That might be hard though with the cricket on.
This morning we clean and that is a given.  I have been asked to do something else that is not usual so that is another one really.  I have also been asked yesterday to do something tomorrow as a swap. I will need to make preparations.  That one to was weird.  I knew it was coming up but I had time.  That did not stop me starting to prepare.  Low and behold I had something on paper already.  I find making a start is the hardest part.  So that one is under hand…I mean in hand.
It is early in the morning o a Saturday and not much is stirring.  I am though.  What surprises me is how it is not just a stirring physically but something else is going on.
