Giant Broms

6/5/2023

Well that was a case of “tell him he’s dreaming.”
I have a fair bit on on Sunday, so I thought I would write something now.  I had my suspicions though.  Merril was working out in the yard.  I find it impossible to sit when she is working.  But she was working on hives on a table.  I set my mind on what to write about.
Before one word was typed, “could you get rid of that brom?  I would like the hive where it is.”  This was no ordinary brom.  This was from the megatharlous Age.  The age of giant broms.  But this was my chance to look dashing and strong.  So I nonchalantly  went and looked at the brom.  It had had pups.  Giant pups.   Joined to the original.
I went to the shed to get the fork.  I looked for it and remembered I had left the tools where Merril was working.  So I headed back and got it.  I used the fork.  It was going to come out.  But I would need my gloves and glasses.  So I went to where they normally are.  Then I remembered they were in my car as I had used them yesterday.
I got them and set to work.  Digging at one moved many.  This was going to work.  The whole time I watched for animal life.  Spiders love broms.  I have met a few when moving them.  Not this time though.
I pulled out the brom and others came with it.  So did a heap of mulch and soil.  I wanted the mulch.  But first I separated the broms.  With the sectators.  They were in the shed.  I got them and did it.  I now had five broms.  All but one needed the mulch removed back into the garden.  But they protested by leaving much in the yard.  I would need to rake that up.  I knew where the rake was.
I transported the broms and removed some remaining mulch.  I put the broms back on the lawn.  I decided I could leave them down the front with a “give away” sign.  They would need to be trimmed first to make them respectable and more manageable.  I got what I needed from the shed and did the job.
Not the first time mind.  Eventually.  Bamboo stakes do not lend themselves to banging into hard ground.  Long thick spanners though are good for banging into the ground and making holes to put stuff in.
I needed a place to put the offcuts.  I thought a big box we had would be ideal.  So I went and got the bin and put the offcuts already in the box in the bin.  Now the box was free to use so I used it.  What remained went into the garden bed.  I raked it in.
It is now about an hour and a half later.  I am writing and do not think I will be called on again.
