Getting There

As is so often my custom I like to look at the email I received from Jams Clear, and see if there is something I would like to write about in it.
This time it is something he said rather than a quote of someone else that I like. “Be excited for people when they succeed.  When a friend or family member reaches an important milestone like getting a promotion or making their first sale or scoring acceptance into their desired program, celebrate it. Buy them a drink. Send them a card. Tell them you're proud to know them.  Being thrilled on someone's behalf is a lovely way to be. Winning is better when shared."
This has reminded me of something I need to do.  I like to do what is recommended here.  One of the big motivators for myself is trying to do to others what I would have them do for me.
I know I get excited with some things.  I like to share excitement.  It is great when someone else shares in that with me and makes me feel good about it.
During the week a mate shared his excitement at a win.  I could just tell by the way it was written that it meant heaps to him. To me being excited for him but doing nothing means nothing.  It becomes doubly meaningful if it is obvious that what the other experienced was significant not just for them but for another.
Really it does not take much to encourage another but the implications for the other can be huge.  They can be beyond expectation.  So often what is meaningful but routine for me, can inspire another to even better things.
Personally I want that.  I want others and myself to be the best we can be.  A little hand up can make the difference between getting somewhere or not.   What can take a moment can last a lifetime.
