Getting Started

29/11/2018

I was hoping that today I could have told you about going here and there, and meeting different folk, and generally describe how my world had gotten bigger.  Alas, twas not to be.
I am pleased though, with what we did.  I had a task I was so not looking forward to doing.  Every two years I need to justify my existence. By that I mean, I get forms to fill out and return.  A couple of the forms I need someone else to fill out.  It is not like these forms are easy peasy, and two pages long.  They are pages long, and just about require a degree to complete.  I often need to find information elsewhere.
Anyway I was not looking forward to doing them.  I knew I could not accept just any distraction any longer.  The good news for me is, this morning I did them.  It took a few hours, but I have done all I can.
I find doing what I want to do really easy.  It may involve hours, but that does not seem like an imposition to me.  I just do them because I want to.  Stamps are like that for me.
Right now I am sorting some paperwork.  I am into that.  I know, I really do need help.  It does not involve hours, but days.  I know I am getting there.  It does not help that, as I have stated, I treat everything as important until proven otherwise.  As I have said, just because it does not matter to me, does not mean that it does not matter.  Anyway as they say, inch by inch everything is a cinch.
It is doing what I don’t want to do I find hard.  One thing I have always found though, is that I am pleased to have done it. Sometimes I learn stuff along the way.  Sometimes I don’t, and it is nothing but a hard slog.  Either way, the end of something is always better than the beginning.
Getting started is always the hard part.  I heard someone say that train engines are so big just for the start really. After they get going, it is a cruise.  (I am thinking the huge coal trains here). There is no doubt about it, I need all the help I can get, to get started. Sometimes it is just a matter of getting in and doing something.  I am inclined to look at it from every angle, draw up a plan, get a drink, get comfortable, realize the time, and go to bed.  Anything but do it really.
Ignoring something does not usually make it go away. If I want to do what I really want to do, then often I need to do, what I do not want to do, first. My brain hurts just writing that.  Getting things done, open things up.  What I don’t want to do, will not go away, so I may as well just get in and do it.
Planning can be just an excuse.  If I want to feel better, I just need to do it.
