Getting Away

I read something I think contains a good point.  “The reason people get good ideas in the shower is because it's the only time during the day when most people are away from screens long enough to think clearly. The lesson is not to take more showers, but rather to make more time to think.” (James Clear email)
It reminded me of something I saw recently that said something like take the time to get away and be quiet for 30 minutes and if really busy get away for an hour.
I find it so easy to get caught up in things.  To be what a friend of mine calls “stupid busy.”  Rushing about here and there often doing things almost without thinking.  Things that need doing for sure, but acting like I am the only one who will do an acceptable job.
Since retiring it has become very real to me that no one is indispensable.  Should I disappear for whatever reason, someone will take up the mantle.  They may not do it the way I would, and they in fact may do it better.  The thing is, I have no control of such things.
This sort of thing is front and centre for me.  Life goes on.  I must not forget that is true for me too - in a place that cannot influence this place.  It is important to me that my busyness does not neglect what is right for me right now.  There are times that means making decisions that may not be popular. 
It is like the way I encourage others who go to the doctor and perhaps get an unpopular diagnosis.  The diagnosis may be true, but no one cares about me the way I care about me and so it is important my decisions are not  based solely on one person’s opinion.
The best way I have found to make sure I am doing what is best for me rather than just doing what needs to be done is to get away, be quiet, think and pray.
It is important to me I make time for such things, otherwise it seems I may do good but help no one including myself in the long run.
