Get Together

Thursday is my rest day.  I try to do it well.  In fact, I try to be the best I can be.
I deliberately try not to make any appointments for that day.  It is not like I don’t do anything mostly.  It is just I can chose to do a lot, or to do nothing.  This last Thursday I chose to do next to nothing.  It was only two sleeps though.  The fact they were long has nothing to do with anything.
I really felt I needed the rest.  This last period has been stupid busy.  It is not like I am alone though.  I am amazed at the number of people who have indicated they just want to get over this hump and rest.
The days after the Thursday promise to be busy again.  In the morning I go shopping.  I know that the word “shopping” causes some people’s eyes to light up, and it is like the pinnacle had been reached.  That is not me.  Later on a guy comes around for table tennis.  We have been keeping a record of our games and it is really close.  The next time he comes will be the last for the year.  We are treating this season like a season at the club we both go to.  There is something on later that night we may go to.
The following day we are having people over for a Christmas get together.  I am really looking forward to that, but it is not like no work is involved.  I reckon for a start, I will need to mow the lawn.  I heard a friend of mine say he liked people coming over, as it was a chance to do up the place.  I agree with him, but it is not like doing up the place does not involve work.  It is always worth it though.
I’ll admit it, I am a minimalist.  I always look for the way that involves the least amount of effort.  Unfortunately for me, sometimes the least amount of effort involves a lot of effort.  It is always worth it though.  I have never thought “why did I do that?”
To add to the dilemma, rain is expected.  We sure need the rain but the timing could be better.  Thankfully though, there are enough under cover places for people to gather.  I like the latest Ikea ad that shows people huddled together and suggests it is time to purchase a new whatever.  Of course the rain may or may not happen.  So often what is predicted, and what transpires, are two different things.
Sunday morning is often church and then we get lunch and go to someone’s place.  I think a sleep will be in order before we tidy up from our gathering.
