Gateful

I personally feel I have heaps to be grateful for.  It is one of those things that the more I think about to more I find.
Merril and I are constantly thankful for where we are.  We really like our neighbours and have made a point of getting to know those we can.  It is incredible how when you are friendly people tend to be friendly back.  We do stuff for them, and they do stuff for us.
Merril was in tears one time seeing our neighbour mow our verge (he has done it a couple of times).  We knew it was something he did not need to do, but did it.  He has prepared us a couple of meals and we loved them.
We have done various things for him but like him it was not with a view to what we could get out of it.  But that is what I really find amazing.  So often good things are not sought but they happen anyway.
Another group of neighbours we are getting to know (I use the term neighbours loosely as they are in the next street) we call “the lemon people.”  They have lemon trees that produce more lemons than they need so we get some for the food pantry we know of, that gives out free fruit and vegies.  They are a lovely couple and the more we get to know the neighbourhood, the more we see to like.
Of course not everyone is outgoing and friendly.  Their loss really.  But a neighbourhood is made up of all sorts and in ours no one is in each other’s pockets, and is free to be themselves.
So our neighbourhood is one thing I am grateful for.  I am also grateful for this country.  This is a great place to live.  I sure do not take it for granted. Things change so quickly but so far so good here.
That is just two things.  If I was to list all I am grateful for it would be thousands of words.  But that is a good start I reckon.
