Future Hope

I have been waxing all poetic lately. Though it does not affect me greatly.….just stop it! Anyway this is one from yesterday called “Future Hope.” It sorta starts as a kid, and making decisions in the teenage years, then following an adult path to now which is looking back. I’m ok Jack. What about what I lack? There I go again! It is probably best for everyone I stop now. Wow. Kapow!!

Future Hope

​Paths set out before me, so many ways to go
A future full of promise, but reaping what I sow
Blissfully blind - a game could fill my heart
Thinking it’s forever, before it’s due to start
D Day comes, there’s many roads – time to have my say,
Interests and inclinations, help inform my way
But there’s others here, it is a race, I need to get ahead,
I’m told I could get left behind, if choosing ease instead
Decisions made I hold my course - family, sport, career
Just living keeps me busy, in the life I’ve chosen here
These feelings of my discontent, I know they’re going to pass,
I want to build a legacy, something that will last
I once was young, and now I’m old, and aging is not fun
But soon it will be over, though it feels it’s just begun
I’ve a lifetime full of memories, stories yet to share
But few are really listening, it’s like a race out there
So I’ll use this time reflecting that now is all there is
But I have a future and a hope, when I’m truly his
Mistakes now long forgotten, a slate that’s been wiped clean
And a place prepared for me, beyond my wildest dream
