Full Plate

It amazes me how it seems to me some things are true and I should do them – even if I do not want to.  There was something in the James Clear email that I reckon is true, but it can be so hard to do.
It went something like, "Greatness takes guts. And often, it's the courage to eliminate the things you can do fairly well so you have the capacity to do one thing exceptionally well. Have the courage to take more off your plate."
I have seen this so often and there is often a reluctance to let go.  Reasons can be numerous and seemingly legitimate, but always the outcome is stifling for all.
Sometimes, and to me this is the greatest deception of all, there is a belief that no one else can do the job as well as me.  It is doubtful another will ever do something the same way, but different does not equate to lessor.  But everyone needs time to “learn the ropes” and it is only the fruit of someone’s endeavours that tells the story of effectiveness and motives.
I am in a position right now where I feel to let go of some things that I know I do ok with and concentrate on things I am really passionate about.
There is no doubt that can be hard to do.  Familiarity often equates to comfort.  It would be easy in one sense to remain doing the familiar and avoid the courage needed for the unknown.
To achieve a goal sometimes means encountering unexpected obstacles.  Obstacles unfaced before and even unthought of.  Yet obstacles that if undealt with will prevent me from achieving what I have in mind.
Of late I have seen my life like removing everything from a table and only putting back what is required.  It has sometimes meant saying good-bye to comfort and familiarity and saying hello to unexpected things.
But life is nothing if not interesting and taking things off my place definitely leaves room for other things.
