I recently caught up with a friend of mine.  Yes I know that is incredible, but I do have friends – plural.  I so would like to see more of him, but our paths do not cross that often these days.
I reckon he is a kindred spirit.  For example he told me without prompting that his strength was (not starting into the middle distance – which is mine) staring at a bush.  He also told me he could do four things at once, and I was impressed.  He said he could not only stare at a bush, but see into the long distance at the same time.  He then mentioned that while doing this, he could also breathe and have his heart beat.
I had to tell someone about his superpowers.  I told Merril.  I could tell he was a bit miffed when he asked Merril turn away while he mouthed to me “why did you do that?”  He would have wanted no one to know, as he is not one to boast about his powers.  Anyway, it was too late.
There was a time we both attended the same concert.  Someone we both know suggested to another they listen in to our conversation when we get together. Anyway, ours was our usual carry on, much to the mirth of those around.  I do not know what others really thought, but I know we had a good time.
I had a chuckle to myself when we got together recently, and he told of a drone he had bought as a gift for someone. They took it to a western town and all was going well.   They were flying it really high and then the battery ran out.  Fortunately it descended in a very orderly and measured way. Unfortunately it descended into the highest branch of the highest tree where it came to rest.  They could not get it.  They got it the next day, as the wind had blown it down.  It never flew as well.
He also told of parking in a place where spots were at a premium.  The spot he chose had a railing he had not seen.  Fair dinkum, a person could not park better while avoiding the railing.  It was a master class in parking.  He had the photos to prove it.  It was just a pity it was more by accident than design.
He is a bit like me in that one can either laugh or cry about mishaps.   Certainly we learn from things, but it is no doubt why it is said “it is no use crying over spilt milk.”  We need to do what makes us feel better, but it does not change what has happened.
