For Good

I was listening to an album by a guy called Bob Bennett.  I confess it is right up my alley.
The song was about his parents and called 1951.  The words that got me were “Sometimes I’d hear my daddy sigh, momma would cry on his shoulder, whenever I would ask him why, he’d say you’ll know when your older.”
Man are there things I do not understand. There are things that are beyond me and always will be.  There are other things that are beyond me unless I am willing to learn.
It is the things that are beyond me and always will be that get me.  Sometimes things happen that I just don’t understand.  Things that to all intents and purposes look bad.  Things that change my direction big time.
Yet I am one not to make my mind up too soon or decide too early.  If I do, I am the one who potentially misses out.  I will always try to understand, but that does not mean I am always successful.
Things happen that I would not choose.  Although it is inevitable, I wanted my parents to live the whole time I lived.  It didn’t happen.  Bad things happen to friends.  I would not have chosen it to.  For myself the direction of my life was altered.  One day I was one way, and the next day I was another.
I never welcome bad things but I cannot rail against them.  Somehow, someway, good can come of it.  I do not know how often someone has said “I would not have chosen that, but it has sort of worked out.”  If I had my way everyone would cruise.  But life is not like that.  It is good to aspire to the best, but it is necessary to deal with the way things are.
I’ll never forget Sully in Avatar.  He was crippled in life but on Pandora he was not.  He longed for that world.  I’m a bit the same.  Right now I may not the way I want to be.  Things have changed and they appear not to be for the better.  I long for it to be different.  Bit like Pandora really.  I will do all I can to make it different, but the record is not good right now.  One day it might be, but right now it is not.
So as per usual I am faced with a choice.  I can bewail the way things are now or I can get on with it and make the best of it.  That is what I choose to do.  To me it is a bit of a no brainer really.  If I think about it, I can stand still or move.  Standing still is good at times, but only in the context of moving.
