Flu

Funny how it the mind’s eye plans go one way, yet life intervenes, and things are different.
That happened to me.  I felt something coming on on Sunday, with a sore throat and coughing.  I did a covid test as I was feeling blah.  It was negative.  I went to bed incredibly early.
I think it could have been worse.  I resorted to Panadol and while that made me a bit of a zombie (could take 2 every 6 hours) I reckon it would have been worse without them.  Also I had had a flu shot.  It seems that while it does not prevent the flu, for me it made it milder than it could have been.  Merril could tell when I needed more Panadol by my increased coughing.  I noticed the sore throat return.
This is the first flu I have had since the mid nineties.  I have had colds, but nothing serious.  My doctor thinks I have an infection resident that positively impacts my immunity.  For some reason I rarely get badly sick.  In fact I remember the last flu I had.  I was going to Ayr by train to see my mum.  The guy near me was as sick as a dog.  I got it and remember spending time in bed at mum’s.
I had big plans.  Merril had written down all we would like to get done.  The list is basically everything that needs doing around the house and will take more than a week working every day.
It will definitely take longer now because today I only did stuff I could do sitting down.  There was a heap of that.  This afternoon I did some minor physical stuff.  I was wondering how sensible that was as I did not want to come back too early.  I did not know if the Panadol was only disguising things.
I have seen it in table tennis.  People suffer an injury and are told to stay out for say six weeks.  But their enthusiasm leads them to come back in four thinking they are ok.  So often something happens, and they are out for another extended period.
Merril has declared it another rest day.  I think I am in that for safety’s sake.
