Flooding

21/12/2018

Click hereWell the forecast was for copious quantities of rain.
It sort of had been like that for several days.  It really had not eventuated. We were not complaining though.  One night we had 28 ml.  The next night we had 8.  It had been good rain.  One morning I chose to mow.  I thought I was seizing a window of opportunity.  It turned out being a really big window.  Humongous actually.  It lasted most the day, though it was very humid.
We have been at this place when we wondered if it would ever rain again, and we have been here wondering if it would ever be fine again.  I do like Burpengary though.  I mean, why wouldn’t I, when the birds are always singing, there is blue sky, it only rains at night, and every day is a good day.  Oh, that is in my dreams.  I said to a guy I thought Burpengary was a best kept secret.  He said it is a secret no longer.  A local doctor said to me, “why wouldn’t a bug live here?”  The climate is really good.
I was waiting for Merril to come home from work one time it was really raining.  While maybe saying I had a river flowing by where I sit, might be an exaggeration, I definitely had a stream flowing by.  Boy did it rain.
One of the reasons I have always felt a bit ambiguous about our tank, is that we get it when it is dry, and when it rains we don’t need it.  It is good to have when it is dry though.  Unfortunately 5,000 litres does not go real far.
Merril was driving a smaller vehicle than what we have now.  She was at a set of lights and saw the water rising around her.  Flash flooding is just that.  It really comes in a flash.  Merril got out of where she was, and came home the longer and safer way.
My brother likes the rain as it fills up the pool.  The downside is, it fills up the garage too.  My poor old dad had an obsession about water.  He was always devising ways of channelling it elsewhere. Mostly the ways he devised stayed in his head.
We live on the side of a rise now, and it never floods here.  If it did flood, a lot of people would be in trouble before us.  The thing is though, our place would then probably be a gathering point.  There would be heaps of introductions to do, though after someone has lost everything, they tend to feel a little vulnerable.
Our generator would be a help.  I do not know we could help with iphones though. to edit.
