Money, sex and power.  More money is always welcome.  Sex is enjoyable.  I don’t have a problem with power, as long as everyone does what I say.
I reckon all of those are a good thing.  It seems to be when they are out of wack they can be a problem.  I am big on balance.  To me there is a time for everything.  It is when one becomes all consuming there can be a problem.
The love of money is one of the reasons lotto thrives.  We all would like a lot for a  little.  Putting in just a few dollars, can reap a huge return.  We live in hope.  A show I saw had people just send money to a casino rather than play the tables.  The thought was, you are going to lose so cut out the middle man and just send money and do what else you have in mind.
A lot of people say “money is the root of all evil.”  That is not what is said.  It says “the love of money is the root of all evil.”  Big difference to me.  I need money to survive.  Money opens doors.  If I don’t have enough, I can’t do enough.
I heard someone say that God had to make sex enjoyable or we would have never have done it.  Our track record in obedience is not good.  It not only serves the purpose of populating the planet, but is something looked forward to.  Some are ok being single.  Others want to be married at the first chance they get.  Some would like to be married but it never happens.  The ones I feel for are those that commit to celibacy and they were never meant to.  Desires can seem noble, but they can be unrealistic.
Power is a weird one.  I honestly have not had a problem with it (that I know of).  Yet the lust for power can have huge consequences for a lot of people.
Someone said to me “the best form of government is a benign dictator.”  I think I agree with that, but I have problem in that there is no guarantee that in 20 years time a leader will be benign.  It seems at the moment we are seeing a grab for power by some leaders.  They are not satisfied with a temporary mandate.  They seem to want a mandate for life.  Plebs like me can be pawns in a game.  The thinking seems to be, it does not matter how many lives are lost, as long as I win.
Still, power is needed to get anything done.  But when it is seen as something to be grabbed, and it is abused, it can cause problems for many.
Same for anything really.  Anything that is my god that is not god is likely to eventually bring me undone and hurt others.  Money, sex and power are all needed.  None I exalt to the exclusion of another.  To do that is to ask for trouble.
