Fear

It is weird but I reckon if I followed mainstream media, I would be a nervous wreck.  It is not that much is happening - it is just their job to sensationalize it and give the impression that that is the only thing happening.
I look at the indiscriminate killings, and the reports of how it is all getting worse.  It really does seem to be but combine that with the accidents and tragedies reported on all over the world, and I could be disinclined to travel.
Global warming gets reported on big time.  Stuff does seem to be happening but the impression given is that I should be a blubbering wreck and the only way to solve the problem is to give up immediately what has been the most helpful.
Urban design has meant that houses are put close together with hardly any yard.  The park was the answer.  But I am being told the park is not safe because of the wierdo’s out there.  Therefore, what was an option is now not one and the great outdoors is denied.
Online is no longer a safe place.  My finances are at risk.  There are people out to steal from me.  Also other places online are no longer safe to visit.  A friend of mine was shocked to discover what his daughter was looking at.  It is so easy to get to places that show things never seen by children once.
My house has been considered my sanctuary, but the impression the news gives is that home invasions happen regularly, and it is just a matter of time before it happens to me.
The thing for me is all this stuff is happening and it does seem to be on the increase.  I know I need to take proper precautions and be aware.  But there seems to be only one response promoted.  Fear.
For me there are three responses possible.  Fear, denial or faith.  Denial to me lends itself to being caught unawares.  It is walking headlong into something that could have been avoided.
The third response to me is faith.  I heard recently about a guy that wanted to help people in a drug, gang infested area.  He was told it was dangerous and he could die.  His response was I am invincible until my work is done.  It turned out he was able to do a lot of good for people held prisoners in their environment, and then he was shot and killed by a drug gang.
All this leads me to conclude that things are getting worse, and I won’t deny it, but my response is not the one promoted.  I choose to have faith.  I chose to take the necessary precautions, but not be inhibited.  My times are in the hands of another, and I trust him.
