famous

I will never be famous.  You won’t hear people say “Socrates, Newton, Einstein, Kuskie.”
If life were a play I would be in the crowd scene.  I do however take comfort from the fact that without a crowd there is no scene.   Speaking of crowds I remember hearing of a film Director that wanted the crowd to appear “dismayed.”  He kept trying and could not get his shot.  So he went on to other crowd scenes with the promise that refreshments would arrive.  Long into the hot day they went and finally the refreshment truck appeared on the horizon much to the delight of the crowd.  Then the truck blew up (part of the ruse).  The crowd was dismayed and the Director had his shot.
I also remember being a part of a crowd in a play about the crucifixion.  In the practice Pilate called out “who should I release, Jesus or Barabbas?!”  The crowd responded how they should “Barabbas” they called.  Cept me I called out “Jesus” and came in for special attention from the guards.
It did occur to me while I was pulling out weeds this morning that I don’t know what the future holds.  I may indeed be famous but the chances are really slim I reckon.  Speaking of weeds (I am easily side tracked) I have never understood why beautiful grass grows where it is not wanted (in garden beds) while we struggle to get grass how we want it in the lawn.
I guess the point that is somewhere there is that no one has a role in life that is meaningless. We all matter.
