Family Fun Day

26/8/2023

Yesterday was one of those blur days.  We were in bed pretty soon after getting home.  I slept well until 1am or so and then again to going onto 6am and I was very surprised.
The day was totally worth it though.  We were apart of a Family Fun Day.  It may have only gone for two hours but so much work went into it.
I know what we did but when I looked at that others did too it blew me away.  There were a number of activities including face painting story telling a picture booth, cooking, bargain food for sale at our Food Pantry, a petting zoo, slushies and musio’s.
We had a market stall. Selling stuff that was an incredible bargain.   Nothing over $2 and cd’s and dvd’s were 3 of $2.  We set up a gazebo and tables and brought heaps of stuff for sale.  It did well.  We sold twice as much stuff as we normally sell of a Saturday.
After it was finished the process was reversed.  There were heaps of helpers which helped a lot.  We were home three hours or so after the event.
I could not believe how popular the petting zoo was.  There were little goats, rabbit’s, little pigs, chooks (the bbq cook was cooking chicken and he said he grabbed a couple from over there).  I don’t think so.
The kids absolutely loved being in the pen with the animals patting them.  Several hundred people came along and the place was buzzing.
One of the things I loved about the location of our gazebo was we were next to the musio’s.  I really enjoyed listening to them.  Brought back memories of our jams.  One guy had an array of instruments including a sax, clarinet, and trumpet.  They sounded great.
It was a big day.  We left home about 9.30am to get something needed and got back home about 7pm.  But it was a success judging by the satisfaction of the people that came.  And I would have no hesitation in doing it again.  Give it a few weeks though.
