Expect the Unexpected

​Well yesterday turned out differently than I thought it would.  Here I was with a list and everything.  Stuff I wanted to get done.  Some was indoor and some was outdoor.
But I did not count on the rain.  Not that that would have stopped me if I was real determined.  But I was not.  It really was the excuse I needed.  So I did some of the indoor stuff and none of the outdoor stuff.
It was a good day though.  We had someone coming with more mulch for the front yard.  He came and worked on the yard.  The mulch is so thick.  Hopefully that deals with the weeds in the garden.  They were my private war.  I reckon they were having a win.  Hopefully not now.
There is so much light getting into our yard now.  I always felt like we were on the bridge of a ship when in the kitchen.  More than ever, it feels like that.  A lot of stuff was cut back.  It will grow back thicker.  It needed doing.
I really liked that he and I had a good chat at the end of the day.  So often it seems people just need someone to listen.  That is what I did and felt he opened up a lot.
I have guys over here once a month and know that guys are not real good at opening up.  But when they do, they have a real story to tell and seem to appreciate someone hearing and listening.
We wanted to get some small bins on wheels for soil and mulch.  We had seen what we wanted so combined getting the bins with me setting up an area of the church for the first aid people to use today.
So today for me is preparing for people coming over tonight.  After tonight we have the school holidays off.  I have been amazed at how much I have appreciated that.  I am more than happy to do what I do throughout the term but find it great to have a break throughout the year.  There are things I want to get done during the break. 
So here I am with things to do and the day to do them in.  Merril will be studying for a good bit of the day.  We have had a prayer time together and are now both doing what we have in mind to do.
