Excuses

Today is my day off.  I make no appointments.  But there is heaps to do here.  I was all inspired to clean up the tree cuttings and make our former pool place ready for sheds.
I’m not so inspired now.  Well I am inspired, but to sleep.  I have been sitting at my computer and been finding the longer I sit here, the tireder I am getting.
I am sitting here thinking up excuses why cleaning up ready for the shed is something to avoid doing.  I know, I filled in at table tennis last night and mostly got done like a dinner.  I won one of three singles and the doubles I was in.  Merril and I left after my last match.  I think we went down, but it was close.  The table tennis took it out of me.  I deserve a rest.
Besides we did other things during the day including cash for can, banking, shopping and other things.  Big day.  Tomorrow promises to be another big day.  I have mowing, visiting, shopping, and a blood test.
What else?  As much as I try, I don’t know I can use having just got married as an excuse when we have been married over seven years now.  I don’t think needing to attend a funeral would work either, when I do not have any to attend.  Just trying to think outside the box, but it is probably best I get rid of the box altogether.
Where there is a will there is a way though.  What other excuses can I come up with?  Oh I know.  Sitting here it looks like rain.  I don’t want to get wet, and I can avoid that if I don’t go outside.  Also, I do not know what is in the grass I need to deal with.  There could be a nasty.  I have already had to deal with one spider.  Who knows what else may be lurking.
I’m on a bit of a roll with this excuses thing.  Why do it today when I can do it tomorrow?  Just thought of a Hagar cartoon.  Lucky Eddie says “never put off to tomorrow what you can do today.”  Hagar responds, “good idea, I was going to have tomorrow off.”  Come to think of it, it is a bit hot and it is getting hotter.  No matter how well protected I am, the heat gets to me.
Merril and I laugh about it so much.  Merril was going to say “women don’t sweat, they glow.”  All she got out was “women don’t sweat..” then a guy chimed in “they would if they put in the effort.”  I was really glad he said it and not me.  The look on Merril’s face said it all really.
I feel I have a good supply of excuses for going to bed rather than doing what I had planned.  Heat, nasties, rain, and big days.  It might be best if I board up all the doors and windows.
Trouble is, doing what I had planned would be better.  There would be heaps of advantages to both me and us.  Still, I don’t always do the right thing even if I know to do it.  For me it seems to be that choice thing and right now I am inclined to choose bed.
This is not a stark choice though.  I reckon I can do both.
