Everyday Days

Everyday Days
Some days are just everyday days.  Merril and I had heaps on this morning, but this afternoon and evening were a different story.
It seems strange to me but sometimes the everyday days are the hardest.  When something is coming up, I am hyped.  Generally, I am glad when it is over.  Not because I may not enjoy it, but generally a deadline means pressure.  I may have asked for it and go into things with my eyes wide open, but the end of something is always a relief.
I find that sometimes I am most at risk by everyday days.  I admit I do not necessarily do nothing well.  There are times for sure I need a break, but I could not endure a never ending break.
I guess it is the old saying “idle hands are the devil’s playground”
I have found it is always best to do something to avoid doing something I would regret.  When mum passed, I had a week off but asked to go back to work early.  I just needed to be doing something rather than dwelling on my sense of loss.  It does not mean I do not feel loss, but I have no desire to be conquered by it.
So for the coming week we have some activities mapped out and something has just come up I need to give some thought to.  It may involve a few hours.
I prefer to be busy rather than idle.  I have for a long time been one to do something early as I know it means I can do more later, as a matter has been dealt with.
Before I retired, I did enjoy Saturday mornings.  I knew I could sleep in if I wanted to.  I generally did not, but knowing I could seemed to be a bonus.
Even these days when I have a sleep in the arvo, I generally get up pretty quickly once I know I have had enough sleep.  I do not do lying there well.
At one point I remember a boss saying to me, “I work hard, and I play hard.”  And he did.  I guess I am a bit the same.  It is like there are no half measures.  Either I do something. or I don’t.  When I choose to do it, I do it with all I have got.  It seems pointless to me to go at something in a half-hearted measure.
That is just the way I am.  Horses for courses.  It is just my outlook, and I am the one who has to live with me 24/7.
