Emotions

I was listening to a song this morning called “Letters from War.”  It seems to me there are definitely songs written to pull at the heart strings.  It reminded me of other songs that do the same like “Butterfly Kisses”, “Cinderella”, and “Only 19.”  My immediate response to such things is moist eyes.
It is funny how one thing leads to another, and I got to thinking about emotions.  So often emotions are seen as counter productive and they need to be suppressed to achieve anything worthwhile.
For me emotions can sometimes get in the way of something I am striving to achieve but I consider that emotions are a part of the human condition and finding expression through them is natural and right.  For me it is counter productive to try to suppress tears when I lose a loved one.  Tears may not be a forever thing but they are a necessary part of the healing process for me. 
There are other times when tears are right.  Pain for me can evokes tears.  I was watching One Plus One and the person commented they were tears of joy.  When people are presented with their restored dilapidated item at the “Repair Shop” often tears of joy are shed by both men and women.
It only seems natural to me that my emotions find expression.  Mankind seems to be made up of three parts.  Physical, intellectual and spiritual.  Experiencing pain seems to be a physical thing.  What amazes me is how I just may have my finger hurting but it is like the whole body is involved.  When that is solved, my whole body finds relief. 
My intellect seems to involve a few elements and that is the seat of my emotions.  Anger, joy, love, laughter all seem to come from there.  Those sort of responses seem to often be born of something that has impacted my intellect.
There does seem to be a spiritual element to people.  I only need to look at what is for sale in the shops, or the embracing of a multitude of belief systems. I get surprised at rock concerts, seeing so many with hands raised in the air.  It is for me like a worship thing.  There are no doubt many motivations but it looks like the majority do it as a natural response to a desire within them.
It seems to me emotions are like a lot of things.  They can be harnessed for good or bad.
