Embarrassed

I read something the other day and it got me thinking.  It was about someone I quite like.  But this person saw things from another side.  I was interested.  As is my way I like to look at things from different angles and make up my mind based on different sides rather than adhering blindly to one side.
I am not one to deny evidence.  When something is stated that is contrary to my belief system I will examine it and refuse to bury my head in the sand.  Blind faith does not cut it with me.  But to me even when there is evidence of something some draw a conclusion I do not reach.
I appreciate some will draw a conclusion despite the evidence.  They have a firmly held belief “just because.”  Nothing can be presented that would change the mind.  Each to their own I reckon.  I present the way I see things.  It is up to each of us to draw our own conclusions.
This person wrote a letter which was given the title (in the text) that “So and so embarrassed himself.”  I read the letter and could not see the ground the writer was standing on.
But it was the “Embarrassed himself” that got me thinking.  Only because I know a bit about embarrassing myself.  Been there, done that.  After blowing my nose I often ask, “is my nose ok?”  There have been times I haven’t and then looked in the mirror and it was not a good look.  Since the stroke my voice is weaker than it was and has a limited life span particularly if I need to raise it.  On more than one occasion my voice has given out and it is obvious to all.  Fortunately for me I come good after a while.  At the time it is embarrassing though.
I honestly do not think this person embarrassed themselves.   The writer was the one embarrassed.  What was being said was totally contrary to what they held to.  They were embarrassed.
I reckon I have been there too.  Someone says something and I know totally differently.  They are well meaning but wrong in this case.  I squirm.  It happens to others and I am sure it happens to me.  Sometimes I need to be taken aside and told the way it really is.  I held to something that was proven to be wrong and was later corrected.  I was embarrassed but pleased to know the truth.  I have never found it pleasant to be corrected but I have always found it liberating.
Another person wrote “good bloke.  Dishonest.”  Fair dinkum I do not see that.
To me it all comes down to world view.  To me dishonest is to knowingly state something contrary to known and proven evidence.  It is the way I see things anyway.
