Easy Way

Today I was thinking I could write a book and call it “The Lazy Man’s Guide to Doing Stuff.”
The way I do things sure has changed over the years.  Once upon a time I would lift weights to work on my muskles, and go for a run.  I don’t do that these days.  Even if I could, I would not.
We used to collect big heaps of cash in steel containers from machines.  Sometimes they would be incredibly full.  We would put a bar through the holes at the top, make sure our knees were bent properly, and lift (the thing the container was in had a lip) and lower the container onto a trolley.
When we had a few of these containers we would put them on a flat bed trolley and wheel them to the onsite bank.  We had to traverse little pavers that would shake anything wheeled on them.  One time we lost some coins down a grill.  It was shallow so we retrieved them, but I do remember suggesting that that was money down the drain,
There were two ways to the bank in the building.  One was the stairs and flat bed trolleys are not ideal for stairs, or there was the lift.  I would take the lift.  My assistant one time insisted on grabbing a container and running up the stairs with it.  I was impressed.  But I was impressed getting up that morning to.
For him (and good on him) it was all about fitness.  For me it was all about getting there.  I had one guy in the army do a training session with me one time.  I reckon it was just about the perfect crime.  No one would have known it was murder.
I guess I have been like it most my life, but these days in particular, if there is an easy way and a hard way, I invariably choose the easy way.
Grocery shopping for example.  Sometimes I go into the shop and only a few things are needed.  I may only have two or three bags.  Instead of lugging them to the car, I put them in a trolley.  My thinking is “let the trolley do the work.”  Being found sprawled on the ground because the bags were too much, would probably not be a good look.
An English comedian thought it was weird how we say “too easy.”  He thought “ok then, I’ll make it harder.”
We were watching an episode of “You Can’t Ask That” and they interviewed people with disabilities.  Someone said they have a chair in the shower.  When asked why they said, “why wouldn’t you?”  I agree.  Chairs combined with removable shower nozzles are great for luxuriating in the shower.
There are no doubt seasons for all this stuff, but in this regard, I reckon Spring has come early.
