Earthquakes

18/8/2020

I sure am glad I do not live in an earthquake zone.  They do happen around here, but they tend to be deep and small.  I have never in my life felt one.  Merril has in Mitchelton.  She said it was like the ground moving in a wave from one side of the home to another.
Merril has an app on her phone that tells her when an earthquake happens anywhere that is a six or over.  There are heaps.  Mostly they are out to sea and deep.  Sometimes they are not though.  When a big one happens that affect communities, we often see it on the news.  The app told us it happened, and the news confirms it to us.
Even small ones close to the surface can be devastating.  Newcastle was small but close to the surface.  The Christchurch one was not that big but close to the surface.  I think if I were experiencing one, I would want to run into the street.  If I were in a movie though I would probably save heaps of people and escape so I could be in the next episode.
I would not like to be a no name in the movie though.  Not being named is not a good sign, and those ones often end up dead.  We laughed in Galaxy Quest when a guy said he wanted a name, as those without one often met a bad end.
I reckon the ground moving under me would make me want to escape the possibility of something falling on me.  The worst-case scenario would have me running out of a building to a place where the ground opened up and swallowed me.  But I don’t want to think that way.  I want to live happily ever after.
I reckon some situations I could face would be like earthquakes.  If I were plonked in the middle of a gang war, I would be inclined to make my apologies and high tail it out of there.  Some countries would not welcome me.  If I were there it would not matter if I were an all-round good guy.  If they knew I was from a certain place I would be seen as the enemy to be dealt with, and probably never be heard of again.
I am not going to tell you what they are, but some things for me are like standing on unstable ground.  Not high tailing it out of there never ends well.  But that is the bad news.  Many a time I have high tailed it out of there and found solid ground.  That is the good news.  Was for me anyway.
