Dwarfs

I really liked C.S.Lewis Narnia series.  My interest was aroused when I saw a guy racing to the shop and when I asked what for, he told me he wanted to get the latest Narnia book.  I ended up doing the same.  I got the whole set and loved the books.  The upshot was I loaned the first book to someone and do not remember who and never got it back. 
Last holiday I was in a bookshop and in a spending frenzy.  I saw the Narnia series all in one volume.  I got it.  No regrets though.  I love those stories and want all of them for my lifetime if possible.  I have that volume in front of me.
The reason I have been thinking about it at the moment is a part in the last book called, “The Last Battle” about the Dwarfs.  Different lot that lot.  They were not on the side of the goodies or badies.  Sometimes they lobbed arrows into the goodies camp, and sometimes into the baddies.
I guess my thinking has turned to them as I saw a guy on tv last night that reminded me of them.  As far as I was concerned, he was very fair minded.  He accepted all and had a go at all (he was a comedian).
I guess why that got my attention is it is in such contrast to a lot of what I see on tv.  I try to be as fair minded as possible, and not call something an agenda just because others do.  I chose to make up my own mind.
To me it is true.  The media pushes an agenda.  What amazes me though is they push so hard in the direction they are encouraging, and get so surprised when people do not go the way they wanted.  It is as though their world view is the only one that has any credibility, and they belittle anyone who does not share that view.  At times that is belittling the majority of people.
One good thing is at least I know where I stand with people that may disagree with me.  I reckon it is far more insidious to have someone (like the dwarfs) seemingly with me one moment and against me the next.  My thinking is to treat everyone with love, but I cannot be aligned to all.
Those that have a world view that actively fights against mine I can readily oppose.  Those that share in the way I see things are my allies.  But those that base their allegiance depending on which way the wind blows, in my mind, need to be considers as enemies to my cause.
Wars can be fought despite the absence of physical conflict.  My methodology may be different from what is expected.  In fact, totally the opposite of what is expected.  But effective strategy is not only spruiked but lived.
Opposing some things is a lost cause.  So is sitting on the fence.  There is only one guaranteed outcome for that, and that is a loss.  I may go down fighting but that’s life and all I want is to be on the winning side.
Narnia had winners and losers and the dwarfs were definitely not among the winners.
