Dreaming

I am listening to a guy called Peabod at the moment.  I had never heard of him, but a site I visit has a heap of staff who write reviews.  His album made their top ten.  He is a rapper.  The album is called “Healthy Snacks.”
What I really like is, he writes about every day stuff.  What could be more every day then a song called “hat hair.”  He also has a song called “Summer of Fletch.”  “He's a renaissance man doing carpentry/ Got a knack for the OT imagery/ All the girls hoping they got chemistry/ 'Cause he got good looks and good theology/ In seminary he's legendary, his commentary straight visionary/ How's he not married? This ain't no stretch/ There's a reason why they call him Fletch the Catch.”  Fletcher was his roommate.  There is also a song about roommates called “Roommates.”  For all this everyday stuff, there is no doubt where he stands.
Rappers are notorious for their angst, and are often pictured in front of graffitied walls.  His music is described as “happy rap.”  It is balance I like.  I do not want to be remembered for being against something, I want to be remembered for being for something.  I quiet like rap if the backing tune is good to me. The words seem often to be poetry set to music.
It seems so often balance is thrown out the window.  As Pete Seeger wrote in “Turn Turn Turn,” “To everything there is a season.”    There is a time and place for everything.  Happiness is valid to me, but it is not all there is.  To me there are few things more frustrating than unachievable goals.
Having said that, often it seems problems are emphasised like that is all there is.  Yes there are problems and they need to be looked at and dealt with, but there is a time for that.
I saw on tv a guy that was considered a “holy man.”  His thing was, he had let the fingernails grow on one hand.  One hand had nails that were very long.  I just did not want to be like him.  One hand had been rendered useless.  For me that was not balance.  For me, everything we have is for use, but it needs to be balanced.  Too much of anything is not good I reckon.
Actually eating is a balance thing.  If I ate only one thing all the time, at the worst I could die if it was not nutritious, but I would get sick of it if I was eating only it all the time.  I need to have stuff that is good for me and occasionally have a treat.  Mixing it up keeps it interesting and healthy.
Balance seems to even go for the thing I do predominantly.  I have always been big on having a day off.  If I do anything 24/7 it seems the best I can hope for is burn out.
There is a time to be happy.  There is a time to be sad.  There is a time to garden.  There is a time to be protesting.  There is a time to listen.  There is a time to talk.  If I only ever do one, the balance is out of whack.  I can expect to experience everything I need to, in its time.
