Drama

How selfish!  How can it all be about me when it is about someone else?
Poor Merril.  Who knew that watering the front yard could cause such a drama.  It was definitely one we could do without.  As if her pain were not enough, we have had to change our plans and everything.
Still I know what dramas are about.  Happened to me when I split open the stitching in my calf.  Just made the window of opportunity to fix it.  Can’t imagine I was terribly popular.  Took ages to fix.
I am very safety conscious these days.  I make sure I am wearing a hat and safety glasses and gloves when I work.  Though we have discovered a new phenomenon in our yard.  Bindies.  Merril has been dealing with them, and the few that are there now I discover using my feet.  I had to laugh.  I poked myself in the eye – with my safety googles.  It is no wonder the latest seem to have an elastic band rather than something hard to go over the ears.
For me it is not about what happens, but how I respond to what happens.  Easy for me to say right now though.  All I can say is, so far so good.  Something that has informed my behaviour big time was a story I have related before that I heard about a Corrie Ten Boon.  She was Jewish and told her dad she did not know how she would go if the Nazi’s came.  Her dad said you don’t need the train ticket until you hop on the train.  In other words, do not worry beforehand.  When you need the strength, it will be there.
I definitely could spend a lot of time worrying.  There are so many things that could get me.  I don’t know it is even safe to venture out my front door.  Even in the home I could be got.  A meteor might hit.  A plane could crash on this place.  Our big tree might fall on me.
Though something is going to get me.  When mum passed away her death certificate was really vague.  It listed the cause of death as a few things.  The bottom line for me is that things just wear out.  The best I think I can do is just be ready and live like nothing will ever get me.
I service and maintain the car, not so that it will be usable in 200 years’ time, but I will be able to use it when I need it.  Car parts wear out.  Some last years and some don’t.  It is probably why I need to spend so much on cars.
To me my body is the same.  I know you only see this great hunk of manhood, but, (and this may be hard to get your head around), it will wear out.  In the meantime, I service and maintain it.  Not thinking it will be in this form forever, but to do what I need to, so it is usable.
Merril has a doctor’s appointment at 11.10.  A splinter is not normally the sort of thing that would get her.  She services and maintains her vehicle and is ready for any eventuality.
