Doing Love

Today something occurred to me.  That in itself makes it a red-letter day.  Good chance I am the last to see it, but love is a doing word.
It occurred to me how easy it is to talk about love.  The mind can be full of all sorts of things but love to me is better than a lot of things I can think about.  I reckon that is a good start but only a start.
It hit me big time that the love that is most meaningful is love in action.  Saying the right things should be encouraged and commended but doing the right thing should be encouraged and commended more.  To me talking about love is the theory, while doing love is the practical.
Doing love is particularly hard when I am tired or do not feel like it.  I have had my share of fails.  But I have also had my share of successes.  Times when I have done the love thing despite how I felt.  It is funny how those times mean more to me then when something came easier.
That can include just listening.  Being quiet when my voice wants to be heard.  I am continually amazed at the importance of just listening.  The cry of every human heart is to be heard.  I remember someone saying they did not care about the outcome they just wanted to know they were heard.  To me listening is the first step in love.
What I find is the hardest type of love is for those who wrong me.  This is real rubber meets the road stuff for me.  It is way easier to lash out.  To get them if they have gotten me or get them before they get me.  Justice needs to be served in my mind, but I need to avoid being bitter and twisted.  If I am, the people are affected.  Definitely easier said than done.  But I have found right does not necessarily mean easy.
The easiest form of love for me is the love that comes naturally.  It can be for a spouse or friend or even an unknown person.  It really just depends what is on the inside.  If I am a hater I will hate.  If I am a lover I will love.
For me though it is a work in progress.  This being a mixture is hard to live with though it does seem to be the ways things are.  So much time seems to go on replacement.  Hate with love.  Indifference with love.  Not easy, but easy is not another word for right.
