Doing it Scared

Vincent Van Gogh asked a question that seems valid to me and got me thinking.
He asked “which is worse, the danger, or the fear of the danger?  The context of him asking the question was talking about fisherman.  He was saying how they know the sea is dangerous and storms can reek havoc, but that is where the fish are.  The catch is worth the risk.
I did think that was interesting as the inclination can be to stay indoors.  Out of harms way.  Nothing ever happens but nothing is ever achieved.
I did hear someone say about fear, “do it scared.”  Rather than fear preventing action, it is taken into account while acting.
So often I can use all sorts of excuses for not doing something.  The perilous implications may be real and a real possibility.  Yet the question I need to ask myself is, “is doing nothing more rewarding than acting with a bad ending?”
Why that question is important to me is that doing nothing is generally the easy or safest way.  Yet doing nothing for me often leads to misery and the “what could have been” scenario.
This is a personal opinion, but life to me is more than playing it safe.  Achieving mediocracy.   As the saying goes. “you’ll never, never know if you never, ever, go.  I have been faced with choices that involved staying safe or going into the unknown.  I must admit I have never known anyone who was glad they did not attempt a right challenge for them.  Someone who is like a record with a scratch and on repeat.
Going definitely involves danger and the unknown.  But it also involves adventure and unexpected turns which lead in a new exciting direction.
I personally would not swap the adventure I am on for the security of complacency and the lack of danger.   I have no regrets in doing it scared.
