Do Something

I do enjoy getting weekly emails from James Clear of Atomic Habits fame.  It is not like they are personal or anything.  He does not ask how I am and say what he has planned for the weekend.  But there is often stuff in the email I have discovered or new ideas worth exploring.
Bit like the email I got this morning really.  What he said was something I commented on while I was working.
“One of life's counterintuitive lessons is that you will often gain energy by spending a little bit of energy.”
I found there was a time in the day (usually after lunch) where it could go either way.  I would feel tired and like a sleep.  I knew if I gave into it, I would be in trouble (it is not a good look sleeping on the job).  It would take very little time, but I would work through the feeling and do something, and it would pass.
“When you feel lethargic and like you want to lay around all day, it is usually the case that getting up and moving will make you feel better than simply sitting around…[doing] anything to get your body moving — will often leave you feeling more energized.”
I admit since being retired I am sometimes inclined to go the way of rest.  Mostly no - but sometimes.  I know that generally it is a feeling or desire that will not make me feel better for doing it.  Sometimes it does, and I am glad I went with it, but mostly it is something I feel better battling and wining over.
“If you want to get your day going, then get your body going. It's harder for the mind to be sluggish when the body is moving.”
I like what he says when he says it is harder for the mind to be sluggish when the body is moving.
It is something I have found.  The body often seems to have a mind of its own that works against my best interests.  Sometimes we work together, and it is a good thing.  At other times it really needs to be brought into submission to what is best for me as opposed to self-serving for it.
