I guess I have been like that for a long time.  I can’t say I have always been like that, because I really do not know if I have, or when it started.
The thinking seems to be that when things cross the desk, if it can be done in five minutes then do it.  If it is going to take longer, then set it aside to do.
I have found just doing things really helpful.  I guess it is a bit like a home.  I can get clutter it easily.  Something gets put down to be dealt with later.  My mind is the same.  It can get cluttered.  That is not good for me or anyone really.  So when I can, I do it now.
I had a job to do that really could have been done any time that day.  Someone approached me and asked what I was doing and why.  I told them what I was doing, and for the why, I said I may as well do it now.  My thinking was, if it is done, I do not need to think about doing it anymore.
There are definitely things that cannot be done immediately.  I try to make a start on those.  I was asked to talk, and the same day that I was asked, I went home and prepared something.  After that, it became a think about it and add as required thing.  I know I am like that.  Where I can, I do like to mull things over.  If I have time, I can make adjustments.  If I don’t then I can’t.
I had an appointment to go to.  A day before hand I made sure I had all I needed.  I didn’t.  But because I had allowed time, I could chase down what I needed and get it before I needed it.  If I had waited to the last minute, I would have been caught short.
I think being that way has allowed me to get heaps done.  More than once I have been told by another that they did not know how I had achieved what I had.  For me it was not about having made some superhuman effort.   It just meant I did what I had to as soon as possible.  That allowed me to do other things as they came up.  If I had waited, there is a chance I would have declined what was on offer, because I had all these other things to do.  However because I had done them, I was free to do more if I wanted.
As I say, it is just the way I am.  For me, it is just a good habit I have gotten into.
