Do it again

Do It Again
I get a weekly digest from a singer/songwriter called Carolyn Arends.
This week one of the brief items she mentioned I found really inspiring.  Of course who wrote the song piqued my interest.  It is a Bob Dylan song called “Forever Young.”  She has done a cover version of it.  I was amazed that when I played it Merril started singing along.  She knows the Joan Baez version.  I have heard the song before but only as a background thing.  I had not really listened to the words until today.
Anyway what she said was how a kid often says “do it again.”  They take ages to grow tired of something.  We do it again while we huff and puff not to blow another house down, but signifying our own is in danger of coming down.
I particularly like the thought of “do it again.”  It is embarrassing when I think that it was almost forty years ago, but back then I went on the “Space Mountain” ride at Disney World.   I totally loved it.  I have often thought if I had it my way I would still be on that ride.  I would be happy to do it again.
Things have happened which I am pleased were one offs but there have been many good things that have happened which I would be happy to do again.
Not that I am happy with a revolving circle of sameness.  Truth is I tire of even good things.  I never tire of fishing though.  I always stride out confident that today is the day.  More often than not it is not, but I live in hope.  My lack of success means I am one day closer to success (that is the hope I have anyway, so I do it again).
I am not one to live in the past.  I don’t think “arr them were the days.”  They may well have been good days, (like the day the trevally were running and I was in the right place at the right time to catch some). But them days are not today.  Today I want to make a good memory.  I have no control over how the day will unfold but I never plan to fail, I always plan to succeed.
Having said that I am not sure today will be a “do it again” day.  We have ordered pavers that are ready to be collected and stored prior to laying.  Not an exciting prospect but I would like to be wrong.  I am not confident though.
But moving right along I really like how the song says “May your hands always be busy / May your feet always be swift / May you have a strong foundation / When the winds of changes shift.
I reckon the only way I can have a do it again day, is if I did it right in the first place.  Things happen both good and bad.  The only way I can ensure good comes of it is if as Dylan wrote, I have a strong foundation.  That way there is a good chance I increase my chances of wanting to do it again.
