Dinner

We had people over for dinner last night.  It was one of those special do’s. 
The good crockery and cutlery came out.  I had said to Merril if you want me to assist in any way let me know and I will.  I meant it but she did not need me.  Secretly I was glad.  I know to stay out of the kitchen anyway when Merril is on a mission.  She has her cooking plan and does what she does well.
Last night we had roast lamb, vegetables, potatoes, and gravy.  Dessert was special including something that Merril had made and something one of the guests brought I had never heard of or tasted.  It was delicious.
Oh and Ice cream.  Ok ice cream may not sound that special but it sure is special to me.  By choice we rarely have it, but I love it.  We have some pieces of chocolate instead for dessert.  I admit I love that too.
Besides the good crockery makes me nervous.  I mean it is like Country Road or something.  I am hardy game to touch the stuff.  You know how Superman is with Kryptonite - well it is nothing like that.  Though I would understand if you thought it must be.
It is very rare the stuff emerges though we do like a reason to bring it out.  We had no super duper good non-alcoholic wine glasses.   No problem.  We raided the display cabinet.  We did that for the vase for the roses that had been brought in too.  I would not have thought of it.  Though it was a good solution.  I thought those things were just to look at.  But no, they are not only good but practical.  Who’d of thought.
We ate until we were replete.  Then we sat and talked for several hours.  The world should have no more problems this morning.  We solved them all.
