Destiny

I have a problem.  Alright, alright I have more than one problem, but it is probably best I deal with them one at a time.  Besides I am not very good at doing two things at once. My left hand does not know what my right hand is doing.  I end up looking like an alien lifeform running away with my arms flailing about.
The problem I have (and I am using my list rather than yours) is I am likely to have several books on the go at once.  I have several going at the moment.  I picked up another – first mistake.  In the movie “Jerry Maguire” it was said “you had me at hello.”  For the book I picked up I could say “you had me with the first sentence.”
The sentence was “some people speak words that can change a situation; others speak words that change a destiny.”  Not fair.  That was in the introduction.  If it was all like that, the book was going to take years to read because I would be thinking hard and marvelling at every sentence.
I am being strong though.  I have pretty well left it at that for the moment, but I’m still thinking about that sentence.  I admit I really like it.  Changing a situation is good, but changing a destiny is better.
Lao Tzu said “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed for a lifetime.”  That is not to be confused with the other quote “Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.”
At the end of the movie “Finding Nemo,” the fish escaped from the aquarium in plastic bags.  I used to keep fish and putting fish into plastic bags is the way it was done.  They put water from where the fish are, in a plastic bag, then add the fish, oxygen, and a sedative.  They then quickly tied it with a rubber band.  It kept the plastic bag inflated.  When I get home, I floated the fish in the plastic bag in my water.  That enabled the temperature of the water in the bag to become like the temperature of the water in my tank.  I then released the fish by allowing them to swim out of the bag rather than dumping them into my water (that was real proof they have acclimatized.)
In “Finding Nemo” they made it to the ocean in their plastic bags (the tank was being cleaned I think). It finished with them asking “what next?”  They had not thought beyond their escape.  I reckon “what next?” is a really good question.
To me their situation had changed, and they were free of the aquarium.  But to change their destiny they needed a plan beyond their escape.  Bad situations are always to be escaped from.  However it is done, it is always best to at least mentally leave it, and have a plan.
But you can take someone out of a situation, but the situation needs to come out of the person.  That to me is where destiny comes in.  I personally want solutions that are good for all of life rather than just for one situation.  Dealing with an unpleasant situation is always good - but dealing with a situation in the context of a destiny is always better.
