Deadly

I need help.  You are probably saying to yourself “tell me something I don’t know.”  It is not what you think though.  But wait there’s more.
As I have said before, we are getting another shed.  We have not got it yet, but it is coming.  As a result, I have been moving stuff around big time.  Improvements at this stage are probably more forensic advancements rather than case closed, but in this case, I am ok confusing activity with accomplishment.
My pots are the dilemma.  I am totally on the look out for snakes.  The last thing I want is to take one by surprise and be taken by surprise by one.  I have moved my empty pots a couple of times.  To move them I dislodge them and jump back.  Having ascertained there is no snake, I examine it and then move it to where it is going.  I am putting them upside down so nothing can creep into them.
I have seen a few spiders.  I am ok with spiders.  If they are not deadly, I tend to have a live and let live policy.  Outside that is.  Inside the house they are fair game.  Except the poor old tarantula that bit me from the end of my shoe.  Can’t blame him really.  Suddenly my foot made him really cramped.   In dealing with my pots a number of spiders have scurried away at my behest.
In a previous home of mine, I went to put on sandshoes, but I saw a really weird web in one shoe.  I used a cloth to investigate what might be in it, and a red back emerged.  I was thankful for the inner voice that sounded the warning.  At one place I used to visit, shoes were removed to walk inside.  Shoes were never left outside though.  When I saw all the red backs I knew why.
I am not good at identifying snakes and spiders.  I know some.  Carpet snakes are fairly easy to identify.  We lived on Castle Hill in Townsville.  A carpet snake visited us.  He was 18 foot.  He had just swallowed one of our cats.  The ambulance people came (they did it back then) and had him taken to Tooronga Park Zoo.  But any snake to me is a threat.
Things that are potentially fatal at worse, or really nasty at best, I tend to try to avoid.  Their potential presence does not stop me attempting to achieve what I set out to achieve though.  It just means I am cautious, and success is earned rather than just a given.
Looking forward to this shed though.  We feel we are reaching the age where the way it ends up, is the way it is going to be.  Australian suburbia.  Even here I feel I need to keep my wits about me.
