Deadlines

Tis the season to be jolly.  I do not know if things will quieten down, but I do anticipate a less frantic pace.
I am one of a number gearing up for an event which is next weekend.  It is one of those events which requires a fair bit of preparation.  I am actually all for deadlines.  I find when I do not have them, I just drift.  Things get done but take way longer.
I have changed my day off.  It used to be Thursday but that was not working out and a situation arose where Thursday appeared to be the perfect day for what I had in mind.   Saturday’s I used to clean, but I have now shifted that to Friday to free up Saturdays.
It is incredible how Merril and I feel like Saturday is now a day where we both have no commitments, and are free to work around our home, read, or do nothing if we want to.  I still have one monthly commitment of a Saturday but that is coming to an end.  It is a marque in a market, but I would like to start my own mid-week next year.  There is another Saturday commitment starting again next year but it is short and I can live with it once a month.  That is the plan anyway.  See what happens.
It is amazing the relief I now feel in having that matter sorted.  I do remember someone having said “most people do not have a problem they have a decision to make.”  That was me.  Having made a decision, I feel Thursdays are a good day for the matter is taken care of, and will be treated as it deserves in the future.
The deadline thing really helps me.  It is funny how I thrive on such things.  In my place of employment when I was given tasks, I would always enquire as to when it was wanted by.  That way I could schedule activities.  I could plan events to make something happen by the day it was required.  I know everyone works differently.  That is just my happy place.
When it is me making the call, I do not care how something is done as long as it happens and is the way it is wanted by the required date.
I am big on not drawing conclusions until something is finished.  I maintain an interest and pull it in a certain direction if I feel it is going someway that is not beneficial.  One thing I will always try to be careful not to do, is assume someone does not care based on an incomplete task.
I remember I was building a stone garden bed, and someone made an assessment on an incomplete task.  It did not meet their standard at that point, nor mine, as it was not finished.  When it was finished all were happy.
Anyway that is just me.  Whatever the task is I have at hand, I will do it with all I have got.  Sometimes the task is something someone else would like, and sometimes it is something I would like.  It does not matter really.  No matter where it comes from, I will give it what I got.
