Day One

4/4/2025

Well here we are on day two of our trip to Daydream Island.
It has been a bit of an education.  We were picked up for the airport around 9am for a 12 noon or so flight.  We knew we would get there early but we wanted all the security checks and getting on board out the way.
That all went smoothly as did the wait for the plane.  The plane ride up was not eventful and that is a good thing.  As was the boat trip over.  Our room is a goodie though apart from the bathroom it is one big room.  That means there is no place to escape to, to write this.  Fortunately, Merril is up as well.
We found out there are frequent boat rides to Earlie Beach so we will go there today and get some provisions.  Food was our chief aim when we got here yesterday.  We found some to tide us over, but dinner last night was the cost for one that we normally get four for at the Chinese restaurant in Burpengary (we get two and it provides us with four meals).
It is a lovely place, and we have done some exploring and intend doing more.
I did get this in the email from James Clear yesterday. “Though losing is never fun, there is a certain satisfaction that can be found on the other side of losing — but only when you give your all. To lose with half effort offers no pleasure in the moment and no peace in the long run. But if your ambitions were full and your attempt was genuine, after the sting of losing wears off you'll be left with something resembling contentment. The reward is not always in winning, but in striving."
It reminds me of a song I heard called “Losing is Winning.”   The words I remember go “losing is wining if it turns you around / it all looks clearer when your close to the ground / when you know you’re lost then you can be found / and losing is wining.
Edison lost a number of times before he won by finding how light bulbs work.  I will never forget a saying attributed to him “I have learned how not to do it.”
To me that is often how things go.  Often they do not work but eventually they do.  If I have given something all my effort and I am satisfied that I have (as they say) not left anything on the playing field, then what transpires is good for me.  I definitely like success better but losing can teach too.
I anticipate success in going and getting breakfast.  It is a part of our package and I am sure will be good.
