It’s holiday time hoorar hoorar, I’m going by ship, I’m going by car / Sing hard, sing soft, sing high, sing low, Sing all you want, it’s time to go…
Who was that again.  Yates, Milton, Dylan, Wordsworth?  Arr no.  That’s right.  Kuskie.  About grade 10 I think.
We left on holidays later than intended. Originally we had said about 10am.  We were not in a hurry.  We knew we had something to collect but had that covered.  We figured we had about 7 hours to get there without arriving in the dark.
But it was over an hour after we meant to leave, that we left.  We had not gotten too far when we discovered each thought the other had shut the front door.  Neither of us had.  It was wide open and welcoming when we checked.
Then we were on our way.  It was after 11am but we thought we still will arrive in Roma in light.  We had not factored in though the incredible line up of traffic hardly moving just after the Toowoomba turn off.
When we finally reached what happened police were in a line looking for something.  Probably one of them lost their set of keys and a pile of mates had come to help look for them.  Friendly bunch this country lot.
So that cost us time.  Plus the GPS had not factored in all the changes to the road.  It kept telling us to go to a place we knew we did not need to go to.  We turned it off.
We thought once we get past Gatton we will have lunch.  Again we had not counted on a truck driver beside the highway burning off something they needed to.  Someone phoned in a truck on fire.  Next thing fireys pulled up in the middle of the road and were not letting anyone through.
We saw a place to eat and thought since we are going to be here a while we may as well eat.  We purchased something only to see the fierys had realized what had happened and gone.  We could have gotten through virtually immediately.  Oh well.  We were here now.  We are taking turns being mellow.  It was my turn.  Oh well. Enh. Saylave.
We knew we would arrive after dark now.  But we decided a map would help.  We got one from an information centre in Miles.  The person there warned us about the roos at dusk.  So we slip streamed a truck.  Oh it was not the fastest truck in the world, but we were happy for it to deal with any roos.
We got to our accommodation after dark.  Friendly bunch though Country folk.  Might be a good time to test something I have heard.  A clenched fist and sharking arm is a sign of wishing someone a good time and trip.   I’ll test that this morning when I leave at 6am beeping my car horn and flashing my lights.
