Day Off Dream

Hagar the Horrible was told “never put off to tomorrow what you can do today.”  His response?  “Good idea, I was going to have tomorrow off.”
I was going to have the day off.  Do nothing.  Stare meaningfully into the middle distance.  It did not work out that way though.
Merril’s sister had a birthday.  Merril was going to spend time with her and her dad.  It was the plan.  She visits her sister and I veg.  That was the plan, but it is not what happened.
Unexpectedly Merril’s plans did not happen.  Merril was going to be home all day.  Great really.  We could veg together.  But the shrubs and trees were calling to Merril.  They needed to be trimmed.  I really try to be strong, but I am not good at cheering from the sidelines as Merril works.  Perhaps I just need to try harder.
So instead of a day off there was grabbing cut off branches, raking, cutting, blowing the paths, and a trip to the dump.  After that was the mandatory trip to the Treasure Market.  It matters not if we have nothing in mind to get, we always come home with things.  Still, if a person is going to come home with things that is the place to come home with things from.  We tend to get so much for so little.
We purchased a painting.  Was it a Constable or a Turner?  Arr no.  Put it this way.  Having seen that painting, I reckon I could paint.  Merril suggested she could give it as a gift and perhaps then it could be re-gifted after that.  Still we got it because the canvas is huge, and it will look good on the wall of the place Merril is selling.  After that it will be good to paint over it.  Why paint over it?  Well it features three shapes that look like the A League trophy.  In other words they look like toilet seats.  In fact Merril calls it her toilet seat painting.  We purchased other stuff too and it was all an absolute bargain.
By this time my resistance was really low.  I suggested we get lunch at the Australia shop.  The name is ironic as the people who run it could not look more like foreigners if they tried.  The food is always great.  We had lunch there and it was time to go home for a sleep.
Cept I couldn’t sleep.  I investigated the ceiling and the walls and decided sleep was a losing battle.
I got up and cut stuff up and binned it.
